Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you for visiting my FAQ page. Here you will find some very basic info on my policies and the use of my art.
1
Can I used your art as a reference for a tattoo?
"May I get a tattoo or your art, or use your art as a reference for a tattoo artist?"
Thank you for loving my art enough to want a tattoo of it on your body! I am ok with this, but of course would be very grateful if you contacted me first to let me know what you plan to do and preferably ask permission to do so. It is always good to ask first, as I may have created art that is for personal, business or non-public use. Please consider supporting me by following my social media channels or making a purchase. Once you have the tattoo, please tag me online, I'd love to see it! If you are a tattoo artist, please do not use my art in your portfolio without the art being licensed or commissioned from me for said purpose. Please email me at vanessa.knott@hotmail.co.uk if you wish to enquire about obtaining some of my art for your tattoos.

Are you taking commissions?
Commissions are currently closed due to changes in my work schedule.
However, I typically announce commission openings via social media. Commission slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. When commissioning me, I will ask for a detailed description of what you would like ( including subject, size, medium and colour...). From there I will provide you with a quote based on my hourly rate, plus materials and P&P. Once agreed, I will ask for a non-refundable deposit of 50% upfront before I commence work. The remaining fee will be paid upon completion.

I retain the right to refuse a commission if the nature or subject of the work is too much or inappropriate.

Social Media Usage
"Please can I use your art as a profile picture, banner... or can I share it in a tweet or repost it?"

You are more than welcome to share, comment and like my posts on social media. I am always thankful for the likes and shares as it helps to support me as an artist. However, I would like to ask that you seek permission with me first when it comes to reposting or downloading my artwork. I am OK with people using my art for their profile pictures on Instagram, Facebook, etc… as long as the art is credited to me (check my social media links to see who to tag). This includes banners.
However, my art can’t be used in any sort of advertising without permission (so no store front banners or using my art for a store icon, for example). Reposting my art without credit or without links to my website/social media accounts does ruin my opportunity to be seen as an artist. Again, please seek permission first.

My artwork is not to be used in any sort of article or publication without express permission from me.

Transfer of Rights
Buying an original piece/print/book/etc… from me (or any reseller) of my work does not transfer the rights to the original image. I maintain all rights to reproduce, alter, publish, etc… any piece I’ve created until the full term of my copyright or until some entity purchases the rights to the original from me.
Thank you for reading!
If you have any questions regarding my artwork, please feel free to send me an email.
